About Us

OUR HISTORY

For generations, EBP RSL Club has been at the heart of the local community, bringing people together through friendship, remembrance, and shared experiences. While the Club has grown into a modern destination for dining, entertainment, and community events, its foundations are deeply rooted in the values of service, respect and mateship. Our story is one of dedication, resilience and the enduring spirit of those who built the Club from the ground up.

How it all started

Over eight decades of EBP

The history of EBP RSL Club began in the years following World War II, when returned servicemen and women came home to rebuild their lives and support one another through the Returned & Services League. As the Earlwood district grew with young families and veterans seeking a fresh start, the Earlwood RSL Sub-Branch was officially established on 23 July 1945. From its earliest days, the Sub-Branch became a place of camaraderie, advocacy and community, reflecting the values of service and mateship that continue to define the Club today.

Built through the dedication of volunteers and members, the Sub-Branch overcame modest beginnings to create a lasting legacy. Community fundraising, including participation in the Miss Australia Quest and the tireless efforts of the Women’s Auxiliary, enabled the purchase of its first premises in Undercliffe in 1951. As membership continued to grow, the Earlwood and Bardwell Park Sub-Branches voted to amalgamate in 1958, forming the Earlwood-Bardwell Park (EBP) RSL Sub-Branch and laying the foundations for the Club we know today.

With a vision to establish a licensed club for members and the wider community, volunteers worked tirelessly to recruit the membership required for a license. Their efforts were rewarded on 2 November 1959, when the Club was granted its provisional license, marking the beginning of EBP RSL Club as a vibrant gathering place. Today, while the Club has evolved to meet the needs of a modern community, it remains proud of its heritage and steadfast in its commitment to honouring service, supporting veterans, and bringing people together.
